Discover Twenty-Nine New Cards from Magic's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Expansion (Including a Commander Precon Deck!)
The world's beloved pizza-loving heroes are arriving to Magic: The Gathering. The well-known trading card game's company, the game's creators, revealed a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a special event hosted at NYCC. Could this be a radical addition or yet another Universes Beyond marketing move? Let you decide.
Check out below at all the details revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, along with some useful context. Everything mentioned here releases on March 6th, 2026, except for one item — a special Pizza Bundle drops a few weeks later on March 27.
Magic x TMNT: Core Set Cards
Before we get into all the various unique products and collections available, let’s take a look at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by Wizards. Play boosters for the expansion are priced at $6.99 per pack, while premium boosters should run $37.99 per booster.
Let’s explore a couple of shell-shocking features. First, a new gameplay mechanic named Sneak, inspired by the already established Ninjutsu, where players can play powerful creatures onto the game field whenever an attacker goes unblocked. The big difference here is that Sneak can affect non-creature spells too. Wizards also took the opportunity to refine the mechanic a bit (Sneak counts as playing a spell, unlike the older mechanic). Ninjutsu is staying, but chances are players will encounter Sneak in upcoming expansions from now on.
Should we were to return to the Kamigawa plane, we might use Ninjutsu since that's where it was developed and it’s a hallmark to that,” a senior game designer explained. “But in other settings, since the mechanics are smoother and Sneak will be in standard, it's more likely we’ll use Sneak.”
Another version of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai, is among four cards with unique artwork created specifically for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator the co-creator.
Oh, and, should you be surprised by the card text on Turtles Forever card, which allows playing game cards outside of your main deck, many players were. Yet as per the developers, that's now a official card in every format of Magic.
Anyway, below are the extremely bizarre full-art lands from the TMNT set:
Following Wizards of the Coast's current policy, all these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers say they were careful to ensure the cards and mechanics meshed well with other Standard sets such as Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the design for over a year and we were aware it would be Standard-legal and what other sets were going to be near it in standard,” the designer says. “We designed to ensure that there's synergy with some of those sets like Edge of Eternities.”
For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a blue-red archetype focused on artifacts.
“They combine to offer the pieces for a enjoyable Standard deck,” the designer added.
Commander Deck: Turtle Power!
Following a decision to create any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only a single precon, but it includes six different legendary creatures that can serve as your Commander depending on how you combine them (five cards include a unique partner ability called “Character Select” that lets you start with two of them in the command zone instead of just one). Take a look for yourself:
This Commander deck is priced at $69.99, although the price may rise based on popularity. Sources told that it contains 43 new cards in total, which translates to an additional 37 TMNT-themed game cards besides the six legendary creatures pictured above. (Calculating roughly, that also means about 20 reprints if we assume the precon includes 37 lands.)
What will the TMNT edition of Sol Ring appear? Fans must wait and find out.
TMNT Bundle (Standard Edition)
As per usual, Wizards is selling a bundle. It is priced at $69.99 and includes the following:
- Nine Play Boosters
- 15 Traditional foil land cards
- 15 Non-foil land cards
- Two helper cards
- 1 Foil promo card
- 1 Oversized spindown life counter
- 1 Card-storage box
Pizza Bundle
This is a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, mostly in that it is packaged in a box resembling a pizza box. Each Pizza Bundle is priced at $99.99 and includes the following:
- 9 Standard Boosters
- One Premium Booster
- 25 Regular pizza-themed lands
- Five Foil pizza basic lands
- Two Foil pizza bundle promotional cards
- Two helper cards
- 1 Oversized spindown life counter
- One Card-storage box
If you’re wondering about the “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s essentially a reprint of an older card featuring brand-new Turtle-themed art. The team revealed an example for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of Splinter sprinkling toppings onto a pizza slice. In total, there are six distinct pizza promos available.
The Pizza Bundle launches a couple of weeks later than the core set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Bundle
This unique product is made for a four-player draft and costs $119.99. It includes:
- Twelve Play Boosters (ideal for four people to draft)
- One Collector Booster (aka, the prize for winning)
- 90 Regular basic lands (to build your deck)
- Ten Regular double-sided tokens
- One Draft insert (a one-sheet guide to drafting this expansion)
Cooperative Play Set
Finally, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to create Magic game products specifically for new players. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of prebuilt decks that let you and a friend join forces to face a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.
The concept is that each Boss card gives special abilities to the creature cards contained in the Boss deck. The Boss automatically casts one other card per turn, and you’ll start off fighting {one Boss|
