Bondi Announces Inquiry into President's Adversaries and Jeffrey Epstein Links

This past Friday, Pam Bondi designated Jay Clayton to head an inquiry into opponents of Donald Trump and their relationships with the late financier. This decision came hours after Trump ordered her to initiate the probe.

In a statement, Bondi praised Clayton as “one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country”. She added, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”

This action seems to diverge from a July memo from justice department officials which indicated that documents related to Epstein lacked grounds for additional investigations. According to the document, investigators “lacked sufficient evidence to pursue cases against other parties.”

The President Calls for Scrutiny of Democrats in the Epstein Case

This news coincides with growing pressure from Trump on congressional Republicans to block the public disclosure of Epstein-related documents before an key congressional decision in the coming days. Many Republicans are anticipated to back the release.

Recently released communications from Jeffrey Epstein have highlighted the president’s previous connections with the sex trafficker, including information that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.

That same day, the President announced he would direct the Department of Justice to investigate connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, including Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Paradoxically, he also referred to the “Epstein situation” as a “scam”.
