Authorities Suspend Search for Four-Year-Old Missing in Australia's Outback
Australia's police have called off the search for a four-year-old who has been disappeared in the outback for nearly several weeks, after renewed attempts failed to discover any evidence of the child.

The young boy was spotted engaging near his residence on a remote sheep station close to Yunta, about 186 miles from Adelaide, on late September.
His grandparent stepped away for about half an hour before checking on him, only to discover the child nowhere to be found, initiating one of the most extensive ground and aerial operations in South Australian records.
Present Situation
Authorities - who do not suspect criminal activity - say they will continue investigating, but that the case has become a "recovery mission".
Recently, police for a short time scaled back the hunt, only to recommence it on this week alongside 80 military members.
"Official the commissioner said officials were looking a wider region based on new analyses from medical and operation experts, rather than any new information."
Search Obstacles
On recently, authorities announced that the new search had not uncovered any traces of the boy.
"The situation that Gus is a small child, the landscape is extremely rugged, unforgiving and experiencing variable climate has made the mission challenging and more challenging for those engaged," police said in a statement.
About 470 square kilometers - an area about two times the area of a major city - has now been searched, and a twelve-member unit created recently is expected to continue looking into. Police have not discounted more operations of the area in the time ahead.

It led police to request that individuals discontinue contacting them with their "theories", and urge for them to access details from reliable sources.
Loved Ones Response
Officials earlier this week said the boy's loved ones stay "strong" despite the heartbreaking situation.
"One can understand just how they are experiencing... without having clarity as to precisely where the boy is and what's occurred to him. This would be devastating for every family," Commissioner the commissioner said.
By means of a representative, the relatives family has previously said they are "devastated" by the child's vanishing.
"This has come as a surprise to our family and loved ones, and we are having trouble to understand what has transpired," Bill Harbison said.
"The child's disappearance is experienced in all of us, and we yearn for him beyond expressions can express."
